Steam locomotives require a significant amount of water and coal to operate. Therefore, “water cranes” served as water replenishment stations for steam locomotives. Water crane facilities can still be seen at Fenqihu Station, Dulishan Station, Zhangnaoliao Station, and Duolin Station. The coaling station served as a power replenishment station for steam locomotives. It was usually located near the station. When the train stopped, coal was manually shoveled into the coal bunker of the steam locomotive to replenish the fuel needed for the locomotive’s operation. The original coal platform at Fenqihu Station was initially located across from the station itself, but it was later relocated to its current position.
